About the event
York Shakespeare Project presents Antony and Cleopatra, the antepenultimate play in their mission to stage all of Shakespeare’s works in 20 years. Telling the tale of Antony and Cleopatra’s doomed romance as their countries are drawn into war, it is a heartbreaking tale of people torn between their private loyalties and the vast forces reshaping the world. Around them, their subjects and troops must decide whether to remain loyal to their friends or their country.
Set around the War Room map, this story of soldiers, citizens, and sovereigns is a rare chance to see Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy.
PLEASE NOTE: the performance on Monday 28 October is an open dress rehearsal (£5 tickets).
